If you are wanting to adopt a child in Australia you must go through the state adoption department as unfortunately you can not privately adopt. Even if you are wanting to adopt from overseas you must use the correct public system, to protect the interests of the child and to make sure that all adoptions follow the Hague Convention.
Adoption can be a long and complicated process so before you begin you may like advice on the adoption process in your state and within Australia, inter-country (overseas) adoption and details on the eligibility criteria from countries that are open to adoption by Australian families.
