Adopt List

Welcome to Adoption Australia. The following is a little more information on what is involved in the adoption process.

The waiting list for adoptions can be long as it often exceeds the number of children available for adoption. The children available for intercountry adoption is now greater than the numberse for local adoption, however the process is still lengthy for both and there can be a waiting list regardless of whether you adopt locally or from overseas.

We believe that having a wide range of detailed information can make the process easier for you. If you have a good understanding of what the process involves you will be more prepared to meet the requirements.

We can provide the following;

details about the adoption process in your state or on adopting a child from Australia, information on inter-country (overseas) adoption and details on the eligibility criteria from countries that are open to adoption by Australian families. We can also give you the estimated costs and fees for the various adoption processes, as well as information on international law and how this effects inter-country adoptions. Our service has contact details for agencies, support groups and non-governmental organisations involved in the adoption process, which we can also send you.

We understand that the adoption process is a special time for many families and that is why we want to offer our full support. We feel that the information that we can provide will greatly assist you through the adoption process.
