The adoption of children in Australia can be a difficult process. All adoptions, both with in country and overseas are done through the public office. If you are considering adopting a child then it is important to get the right advise as applications can be declined on a number of grounds and this can negatively affect other applications. Adoption in Australia has decreased substantially since it peaked in
1971 at 10,000 however inter-country adoption has risen and now makes
up 30% of all placements since 1979. It is interesting to note some of
the changes that have occurred. In the 60's and 70's around 65% of all
placements were from teenage mothers now this has dropped to around 30%. Adoption can be wonderful thing and the joy and love a child bring cannot
be measured in time or money, however if you are unsure of the process
