Information Adopt

Welcome to Adoption Australia. The following is a little more information on what is involved in the adoption process.

Clear and easy to read information on adoption can be difficult to find. Our staff will provide you with the information you require in an easy to read format. We aim to provide you with all of the information you require to assist you through the adoption process.

Local adoption usually begins with an initial screening, which then moves onto a workshop. From there you file an application and are assessed, and move on to allocation and placement. The final stage is the post adoption order.

Overseas adoptions vary, but they generally begin with an enquiry, moving into an education program, an application, assessment, and approval. From there children are matched to the potential parents, and then the household travels to visit the child. That moves onto supervision and Visa applications. Once the process is completed, the country governments finalise the adoption.

We understand that the adoption process is a special time for many families and that is why we want to offer our full support. We feel that the information that we can provide will greatly assist you through the adoption process.
